Tatreez on the Move: Stitching Sumud and Hope

Majeda has been embroidering since she was a child. As a trained fashion designer, she devoted herself to studying the intricate art of traditional Palestinian embroidery—Tatreez. Her skills were passed down through generations, learned from the older women in her village, and enriched through books and magazines.

Today, in her small workshop in Beit Sahour, Majeda continues this legacy. She designs and creates Tatreez patterns with a unique, contemporary touch. Alongside her are women she’s mentored for decades—together, they transform thread into stories, identity, and resistance.

But since the war in Gaza began, the situation in the West Bank has worsened dramatically. Many families have lost their sources of income. Even more are struggling with the invisible wounds—the toll on mental health and emotional well-being.

Healing on the Move brings two powerful missions together:
Empowering women economically through the sale of handcrafted embroidered products.
Providing free, trauma-informed therapy to Palestinians affected by war and displacement.

By purchasing a tote bag, you’re doing more than buying a piece of art. You’re supporting a woman in the West Bank to earn a living—and you’re gifting someone in Palestine the chance to heal through therapy.
